Just before midnight at the Christmas benefit party of HIS Voice in Divus, the band Skrytý půvab byrokracie was playing. I was undressed and smeared in cold clay, to be transfigured from an aesthetic object into archaic “women with bugs”. These bugs were cockroaches, associated with extreme disgust. The audience was repelled and avoided contact.

I was invited as a poet to the Heřmanův Měštec synagogue. However, to lovers of literature, I announced beforehand that performance would form part of the reading. I stood naked, with a broken mirror in front of my groin. I cut my belly with a razor blade to draw blood and allowed it to drop on the mirror. Then I did the reading. There was minimal attendance, but fantastical stories circulated about the performance.

I stood on a podium with my mouth full of kauri scallops. I spat them at the audience. Then I dropped my pants and pulled a big kauri scallop out of myself.
